Florida Birds Photographic Guide provides.
The Rookery
Traveling I-75 take exit 193 (old exit number was 35) to Jacaranda Blvd. (south). Continue south on Jacaranda Blvd.
to Highway 41 and make a right onto Highway 41, immediately get in the left lane on Highway 41 as the Annex Road
turn is the first left. You will see the Florida Highway Patrol office (F.H.P. office). Should you be traveling
north on Highway 776 turn right onto Highway 41 South (North Port) and stay in the right hand lane. Three long
blocks ahead is the right hand turn onto Annex Road. The Annex Road circles around the Florida Highway Patrol office
building to the Rookery. The GPS location of the Rookery is: N 27'02.765 W 082'24.001. You will have little trouble
finding this location if you follow the F.H.P. office signs. The Annex Road is blocked just beyond the Rookery
so you will need to exit the same route you entered.
Returning to Highway 41 north can be a little tricky, especially
with all the mid-day traffic, so you may want to make a right onto Highway 41 and another right onto Jacaranda.
Take Jacaranda down to Highway 776 (Englewood Road) and make a right onto 776 north bound. You want to stay in
the left lane on 776 as it will swing you directly onto Highway 41 north within a few blocks. You will only have
to go two miles out of your way but this maybe a safer route as you exit the Rookery.
